A BILL to amend article two, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section five-d, relating to limiting the time that pupils are transported to school from home and to home from school.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article two, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section five- d, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.

§18-2-5d. School bus transportation time limits.

A primary school pupil may not be required to ride a school bus for longer than thirty minutes to school from home or longer than thirty minutes from school to home and a secondary school pupil may not be required to ride a school bus for longer than forty-five minutes to school from home or longer than forty-fiveminutes from school to home. County boards of education shall ensure that bus transportation provided to pupils do not require pupils to ride buses longer than provided in this section.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to restrict the time that pupils are required to ride on school buses while going from home to school and while returning home from school.
